Dead match
« on: March 31, 2008, 09:35:02 AM »
Hi all!

I write to request a small and I think easy feature:

I'm organising a small contest similar to ogame and for this I'd need to simulate a fight until one of the two fleet will be completely destroyed.
I saw that you prefer to keep private the code of the engine, so I've to ask you if you can add this feature. In my mind it's simply a checkbox on the left that activate this mod.

If the answer is yes, can you also write more or less when you'll publish it?

Thanks for the job done until now and thanks in advance for my request!
Mark Tempe

P.S.
At the moment I used to copy the rests of the fleets and simulate again, but as you can guess it's not the same, expecially for rips.

Hi mark,

I can't add such a feature as it is not related to OGame itself. Additionally, simulating a fight to the end can enormously increase the processor time usage, especially as some fights would have real lots of rounds. This would add too much bear to the server.

Not ogame related but in general it may be interesting..

Hoping not to be bad-mannered, I try one more time :D
The number of rounds (in my experience) almost never goes over 16 and the number of ships decreases very quickly, so it shouldn't be so CPU-expensive. Moreover (for my tournament) I always use dragosim with only one simulation: as you decrease the maximum number of simulations depending on the amount of ships, you may limit it also according to the activation of this feature.

In any case, YOU spent your time to write the engine, so of course YOU decide, thanks for attention and thanks for the job you've done until now :)

Ciao!

Sorry for insisting: no reply will be intended as a "NO!!" :D

What exactly do you need that stuff for?

Well, I created (but this idea is not mine) a contest that takes a bit of ogame, briefly:
the tournament is organized like a soccer world championship, but at each turn the two players have a fixed amount of resources and with these they have to design, separately, a fleet. Then I simulate a fight with these two fleets until one wins and so on. To do this, I use dragosim with only one simulation (I mean the parameter).

Up to now, I've copied the rest of the fleets simulation by simulation to have more-than-6-rounds fights: the point is that, expecially for death stars, this is far from being realistic (ogamy speaking). Counting on the easiness of it, othewise I wouldn't have even asked, that's what I wrote you for.

Thanks for attention and, of course, you can play with us in the third edition :D

Maybe I will add that feature, but not in the near future.
