Extend saving of settings.
« on: September 15, 2006, 04:57:42 PM »
Hi there!!

I am a frequend user of DragoSim and I really appreciate your work!! I must say it works very good!! There is only one thing that I find a little bit "uncomfortable". It would be nice to be able to save all three Tecs, since these do not realy change a lot. Usually Tecs remain equal for at least a week. Iin my case, since I have already height Tecs they even last more time with out changing. My tecs have been the same for the last two month...  ;).

So basically, my request is if you could add this functionallity. I thing that simply saving the three values in the cookie you already have would do the thing.

Thank you very much!!!
Best regards.
Nizeron..

You already can. Just click the little disc (like a save button) above the technologies. Clicking the Folder ("Open" button) will reload them. But be aware that this saves your fleet as well!

Ummm... is there no chance to make sepparate savings for Tecs and Fleet? At least in the 1024x768 template, since you have different buttons there... Because my fleet will obviously change in every atack... :)

But any way, I could save settings once with out any fleet set, so when loading only tecs are fetched. ;)

Thanks for the reply!!

That is exactly the way it should used.

Wasn't sure if I should make a new topic or not, but I think it would be cool to be able to save to an external file rather than just to cookie... My cookies get cleared on a daily basis for security purposes and makes it so I can't save a fleet list like that.

Well, MrMage sure knows better, but I guess that this could result in some user rights problem... I don't know if it will always be possible to write an external file on your PC, precisely because of security purposes. But lets see what MrMage says. :)

Well I could output the saved data into a text box and you could copy and paste it to your PC and later load it from there. I think I will do this in a few weeks (I got my final exams in about one month...)

Or I could add a user database where you can register... But I don't really want that. It's a lot of work and I don't want to force users to register.

Text box sounds reasonable ^_^

Take your time.  This is your gift to us and we await your timing, not the other way around.  Thanks again. ^_^

Is there much interest in this? I have some spare time and I might create a system in which users can register to save their data and set even more settings. But I will only do this if there are a lot of people who would appreciate it.

I'm not playing OGame any more. So even though I still think it was a good idea to do, I must say I really don't care. :)

Best regards and I hope you are still having fun!!
